Our Founder

Eldon Lawyer is a graduate of Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Ok. He was a player and Co-captain of the 1971 – 72 basketball team, which was ORU’s first nationally ranked men’s team. The two years Eldon was at ORU, his teams led the nation in scoring at 104 points per game, losing only 7 games over that two year period. He was inducted into the original ORU basketball Hall of Fame. He still holds school records in basketball.

Eldon played professionally and coached for Athletes In Action and Spirit Express, touring Christian basketball teams. These teams competed against the top U.S. college teams and top club and Olympic teams around the world. As a player, Eldon is in the top ten all time scoring leaders of all AIA teams. His team won the 1976 Men’s AAU National Championship and he was selected to the AAU All American Team. As a professional coach, Eldon, successfully competed against every team in the Acc, Pac-10, Big 12, SEC and the Big East just to name a few. His teams represented the United States in tournaments around the world. Eldon has coached kids that have gone on to play in the NBA and other pro leagues around the world.

Eight years ago, in Memphis, TN, Eldon founded NoXcuses Basketball. NoXcuses Basketball dedicates itself to teaching kids how to play basketball the right way in competition. Hundreds of kids have participated in his unique programs. Eldon has made a reputation of using his expertise and experience in helping kids get the most out of their individual ability.

Eldon currently lives in Memphis, TN, with his wife, Connie Lawyer. They have two grown children and 3 grandchildren.
